Why 14 Days Is Enough to Publish a Real Book

By Kenneth M.F. McGrath · Publisher, CIONAOD Inc. · June 2026

Tell someone you publish books in fourteen days and they hear “rushed.” Tell a stalled author the same thing and they hear something else entirely: possible.

Here's the uncomfortable truth about expert books: the content already exists. If you've coached clients, run a company, or stood on stages for years, the book is in you in finished form — the frameworks, the stories, the answers to the questions you get every week. What takes “years” is not creating that material. It's the absence of three things: structure, sequence, and a deadline someone else enforces.

Time doesn't write books. Systems do.

A book is roughly 40,000 words organized around one transformation for one reader. Broken into a seven-stage pipeline with two days per stage, every day has a defined deliverable and a defined approver. Nothing waits on inspiration, because inspiration was never the bottleneck — decision-making was. Who is this for? What goes in chapter four? What's the title? Unmade decisions are what three-year drafts are made of.

The 14-day clock works because it forces every one of those decisions to a date. Positioning is decided by Day 2. Architecture by Day 4. After that, drafting is execution, not exploration.

What the deadline buys the reader

Counterintuitively, speed protects quality for this category of book. Expert books fail when they sprawl — when two years of tinkering buries the one transformation under six others. A gated two-week pipeline holds the book to its original promise because there's no time to wander away from it.

Slow is not a virtue. Finished is a virtue. And there's a version of your book that can be finished — properly, professionally — fourteen days from kickoff.
